"Icing is Thic" - King Cake Baby

January 6, 2024 / Food & Fun

Sometimes the sweetest things in life come with a little critique — and that’s exactly what happened when I shared my latest king cake creation with none other than the infamous King Cake Baby. If you’re a fan of New Orleans culture and the Pelicans or just love a good laugh, you know that this baby has serious opinions on all things king cake. So, naturally, I had to get a rating. After posting my creation, a beautiful cake covered in purple, green, and gold sprinkles with that thick layer of icing, I was excited to hear what King Cake Baby had to say. His response? “Icing is thic” and a respectable 7.1 out of 10. Not bad for my first submission! But let’s talk about that thick icing — the real star of the show. My king cake isn’t just about the traditional dough and colorful sprinkles. It’s about getting that perfect layer of sweet, creamy icing that makes each bite a delight. King Cake Baby appreciated the effort, and so did my family, who couldn’t get enough. This year, Mardi Gras might be in New Orleans, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the fun, the flavors, and the creativity that come with making my own king cake. Whether you’re aiming for perfection or just want to enjoy some sweet traditions, one thing’s for sure: the icing should always be thic.
